Remember Walter Dean Myers?

"Monster" written by Walter Dean Myers

It looks like I brought too many books from my teen years back to the present! :-x

That novel is in the drama genre and it has a different writing style - a mixture of the screenplay and diary formats. It still trips me out. The novel follows a young boy named, Steve Harmon is on trial for the murder in New York City and he writes everything from his perspective.

Lois Lowery books!

"Gathering Blue"

I loved Lois Lowery's books so much when I was a teenager. Once again, good old days!

This is a science fiction novel for children and young adults, too. The character, Kara, who has a twisted leg, is orphaned and must learn to survive in a society which normally puts the weak or disabled children exposed to die in the fields. So, Kara needs a reason for the Council of Edifice to keep her alive in the village and not take her to the Field.

"The Giver"

Once again, this novel is still in the same genre, science fiction. The character, Jonas lives in a society where it eliminates the difference to stay away from pain and negative environments. Jonas' job is to be a "Receiver of Memory," the person who stores all the memories of the time before "Sameness," just in case they are ever needed to aid in decisions that others lack the experience to make. But when he gets to meet the Giver who is able to bend some rules and leaves him confused about the society and the way of living the life that he should to or not.

Ah, good old days

I love to re-read old books that I used to read when I was a teenager. I got this book, "Green Angel" for my 15th birthday and I loved that book just because of the cool jackets on this book. I wish there is a picture of the back cover but Yahoo and Google sucks for that. The front and back cover of the same girl is different. The front one is a image of her being a pretty, innocent girl and the back one is another image of her being a sad girl with a lot of ivy leaves all over her. Tripping huh? It'd be tripper only if Yahoo and Google have that images.

Back to the point! "Green Angel" written by Alice Hoffman and it's based on a young 15th years old girl who is very pretty, quiet, and a lover for garden and lives with her family in a small town. Until, her family leaves the small town to the big city to sell things while she stays home and somehow, something hits the big city where her entire family dies. Green becomes lost. blind by fire, and ruins her hair that forces her to cut it. She is deeply hurt and she decides to change her appearance and everything to destroy the past that hurts her really badly. She tattoos almost all of her body with the ivies with the thorns to show how much she suffers as the story progress, she becomes stronger and she notices her tattoo turns into red roses. It shows her that in the end, she will be alright and stronger.

Deaf characters in books

"Of Sound Mind" written by Jean Ferris

It's based on a story about Theo who is the only one hearing boy in the deaf family and he goes through a lot of tough situations as a teenage boy for being an interpreter for his mother and being a caretaker for his father and brother. Until he meets a girl, Ivy and he falls for her and Ivy helps him to open his mind and learns to make a decision for himself and his future.

Mystery novels of the day!

"In The Woods" & "The Likeness" written by Tana French

Both of the novels are in the mystery party and I chose it because it keeps me up on my toes. Okay, the first book, "In The Woods" is based on a story about the detective, Adam Ryan's past when he got lost in the woods with his two best friends who goes missing and nobody could find a clue to solve this case, not even Adam Ryan since he doesn't remember a thing until he becomes older, somehow, the fate brings him back to his old case by having a new case that might be linked to his old case.

"The Likeness"

Six months later after the case with Adam Ryan (from the first book, In The Woods), Detective Cassie Maddox gets a urgent call and she has to come to see a weird crime scene. She finds a dead girl who looks like her and her world breaks down quickly. Maddox must become an undercover for that dead girl to find the real killer.

I love that jacket for the second book! :-)

This is prefect for you if you are in a witch phase

"Son of a Witch"

written by Gregory Maguire

Ten years later, Lirr were in a coma but he woke up by Candle who played a musical instrument who took care of him and helped him to wake up. When he woke up, he went on a journey to find the truth behind his mother's death, his identify, and save the Animals.

By the way, that's the second book from the first book, "Wicked Witch Of The East" then you'd understand the whole story in this second one! :-) This is one of my personal favorite books list.

Oh! I want to be a vampire or some cool supernatural freak!

Two books that might be right for your longing to be a vampire or some cool supernatural freak -

"Sucks to be me: the ALl-TRUE confessions of Mina Hamiltion, Teen Vampire (Maybe)" written by Kimberly Pauley

It's all about a young teenager girl facing two hard choices in her life whether or not to become a vampire like her parents. She also has to face the choices between her long-life best friend and her life, too. Pretty tough huh? Oh and it's a easy and fun reading book and it might take you to finish it in a week! :-)
"Soulless" written by Gail Carriger

Alexia has no SOUL! She is a fearless steam punk lady and I don't think you want to mess with her. Back to the point! She accidentally kills the vampire and then, Lord Maccon is sent by Queen Victoria to investiage. (I must admit that I find it eh eh)
